Today I decided to have another play with my whimsical watercolour character paintings inspired by Danielle Donaldson. I am still trying to develop my own little characters. I do enjoy playing with the watercolour but I still struggle with achieving the effects that I would like. I haven’t yet managed to find the right type of salt for the salt effects that I would like and that look so lovely on Danielle’s work.
When I had finished painting this little girl I wanted to add some cute words. I had just bought myself this little Enid Blyton book in the charity shop this week.
I thought it would be a great source of finding inspirational little words that I could snip out and use.
I like to choose words at random and always try to find something that inspires me for my piece of finished work that seems suitable. On this occasion I flipped open the book to a random page and prepared to scan through for something suitable. And the first words that hit me were ‘went outside and came back carrying a round green basket’.
Wow! This was so spooky, because I realised that I had painted her carrying a round green basket. Isn’t that strange! That it should have been round and green too! I always say to my family that I am a witch (a good one though) because so many spooky things like this happen to me. And the strange thing also is ….. that it actually said “the witch went outside carrying a round green basket”. So that is even more spooky!
So, I just had to use those words exactly as written.
